WordPress Events 2026 - Second Half of the Year
Contents

If you want to get to a WordPress event between mid-October and December 2026, you have three options: one of the seven WordCamps still on the calendar in Europe (the first starts on 16 October in A Coruña), a meetup in your own city, or a livestream. There is no WordCamp in Germany left this half-year. The only one was the first WordCamp Mannheim on 3 and 4 July. I checked every date in this post against the events' official pages on 15 October 2026.

What happened in the first half of the year, from WordCamp Asia to WordCamp Europe in Kraków, is in my post WordPress Events 2026, first half of the year.

The table lists the European WordCamps plus the Munich meetup, because Munich is where I work. More meetups in Germany, Austria and Switzerland follow below. New dates are added all the time; WordCamp Central, the community's own directory, always has the current list.

WordCamps in Europe until December

A WordCamp is a conference of usually one to three days, organised by volunteers from the local WordPress community. There are talks, often workshops, and frequently a Contributor Day where attendees work on WordPress itself.

Coming from western Germany or the Benelux countries, WordCamp Netherlands on 12 and 13 November is the obvious choice. It takes place at the Madurodam miniature park in The Hague, the organisers expect around 450 attendees, and there is an evening programme for meeting people on 12 November.

The other camps are spread across southern and eastern Europe: Galicia, Valencia, Pisa, Sofia and, last of the year, Athens on 11 and 12 December. Manchester on 6 November is a one-day camp.

Outside Europe, the calendar includes WordCamp Brasil (Belo Horizonte, 30 and 31 October), WordCamp Canada (Vancouver, 5 and 6 November), WordCamp Bengaluru (21 and 22 November) and WordCamp Delhi (12 and 13 December).

Meetups in Germany, Austria and Switzerland

Meetups are the small, regular format: one evening, one or two talks, then conversation. They are a better first step than a WordCamp because you see the same people again every few weeks. Most of them are held in German. A selection of dates until December:

One thing stands out this autumn: of the meetups with a fixed topic, four are about AI, from Stuttgart, Leipzig and Lucerne to the EU AI Act in Konstanz.

Upcoming Events on events.wordpress.org lists all meetups with a country filter. Inside your own WordPress it is even easier: the dashboard widget “WordPress Events and News” shows the meetups near you.

Joining online

State of the Word 2026: The annual keynote by WordPress co-founder Matt Mullenweg is streamed live on the WordPress YouTube channel. The official page has not announced date or venue yet (as of 15 October). The proposal for the 2026 release schedule gives a hint: it plans WordPress 7.2 for 8, 9 or 10 December, around the keynote, just as WordPress 6.9 was released live during State of the Word in December 2025.

WordPress Accessibility Day: The free 24-hour livestream on accessibility ran on 7 and 8 October, and the programme is in the event archive. If you are planning an accessible WordPress website, watch Julia Undeutsch's talk on why accessibility plugins cannot replace human skill. It matches what I found in my comparison of accessibility plugins for WordPress.

Recordings: The talks from WordCamp Mannheim are on WordPress.tv, the community's video archive.

Looking back: July to October

  • WordCamp Mannheim, 3 and 4 July: the first WordCamp in Mannheim, held in the palace on the university campus. Community afternoon on Friday, talks on Saturday.
  • WordCamp US, 16 to 19 August at the Phoenix Convention Center: Contributor Day, Showcase Day and two conference days with more than 50 talks and workshops.
  • WordCamp Belgrade (18 and 19 September), WordCamp Bretagne in Rennes (18 September) and WordCamp Wrocław (2 and 3 October).
  • WordPress Accessibility Day, 7 and 8 October, online.

Which event is worth it for whom?

First time: start with a meetup, then travel to a WordCamp. My tip from experience: sign up as a volunteer. At WordCamp Vienna 2023 I helped out at the help desk and answered attendees' questions. It was one of the best experiences there.

Agencies and freelancers: WordCamps are where developers, designers and agencies meet. WordCamp US even had its own programme path for agencies and freelancers. If your agency needs support with WordPress projects, you do not have to wait for the next camp, though: here is how I work with agencies as a WordPress developer.

Hosting, infrastructure, business: CloudFest at Europa-Park is not a pure WordPress conference. In 2023 it had its own WordPress Day for the first time, plus a hackathon, and I was there. The next edition is in March 2027.

Looking ahead: first half of 2027

These dates are already set:

As usual, the full calendar for the first half of 2027 will get its own post.

Frequently asked questions

Is there another WordCamp in Germany in 2026?

No. In the second half of the year, WordCamp Mannheim on 3 and 4 July was the only one, and according to WordCamp Central none is announced until December. The next WordCamp in Germany, Austria or Switzerland is WordCamp Switzerland on 5 and 6 March 2027 in Murten.

What is the difference between a meetup and a WordCamp?

A meetup is a regular gathering of a local group, usually one evening with one or two talks. A WordCamp is a ticketed conference of one to three days, run by volunteers. According to WordPress.org, tickets are intentionally priced to remain accessible.

How do I find a WordPress meetup near me?

Filter by country under “Upcoming Events” on events.wordpress.org, or open the “WordPress Events and News” widget in your WordPress dashboard. It shows meetups and WordCamps near your location.

Can I watch talks I missed?

Yes, for many events. WordCamp talks end up on WordPress.tv, and the WordCamp Mannheim talks are already online. Past State of the Word keynotes are on the WordPress YouTube channel.
